The mention of a members orientation on this site gets me wondering, why? I don’t care what your orientation is and I wonder if others do. I am mostly hetero, and the fact that I prefer vagina over penis has no bearing on my underwear or swimwear. if there was a hook up component to this site then orientation might be relevant, but for sharing pics and stories?

I am thankful that gay men are more open and supportive of the styles that I enjoy, and I will stare at a gorgeous person who I find sexy. I have no idea whether my interest is reciprocated and it doesn’t matter.

Labels such as gay or straight seem anachronistic, in that they only matter if you care. I don’t need to know your ethnicity nor your orientation. The essence of a person exist regardless of those things. From the narrow perspective of this community we are primarily a group of men who get excited by underwear. For many there is more but unless we are going to go on a date, who cares.

You're right, of course. It doesn't really matter, either here or in a wide range of other circumstances. I've bitched about society's general insistence on pigeonholing people into little boxes for years. Nobody listens! LoL!

We seem hardwired to do it. Maybe it's instinct, some kind of ancient tribe-building thing gone nuts.

You can always leave that field in your profile blank, as I did.

Could not agree more - just let these sites be what they’re about. I love that that everyone is more accepting of tight spandex gear, and that so many here are into the skimpy spandex gear that i really enjoy. The gay founding fathers have paved a way to allow everyone to appreciate and share thoughts, stories and images from anyone, gay straight or whatever.

I agree wholeheartedly with all this.

To me sexual orientation is a continuum and we all exist along that continuum. Each of us has our own personal preferences and those preferences may cause us to slide around on that continuum depending on our mood or interests on a given day.

Personally, if I am required to put a label on it I've used bisexual for a long time. I don't really care what parts anyone has, but I know I enjoy vagina, penis, anus, nipples, and mouths equally. Most people have more than one of each of those, so we will get along just fine! ;-) Some days I'm really attracted to twink bois, some days supermodel chicks. Other days I'm getting hot over a hairy masculine dude swinging a huge bulge in his suit or a thicker gal that you don't have to worry about breaking when taking her to pound town. It just depends on the mood, and that can be highly influenced by pictures, video, and enthusiasm.

Hm, what an absolutely fascinating topic!!

I don't agree automatically that labels such as "gay" and "straight" as anachronistic in real life and/or to society in general. Gay and straight are very relevant as labels if somebody is looking for a relationship, for instance. However, finding a life partner is probably not the main purpose of USG... (There are other much better sites for online dating, surely?) 😆

In terms of enjoying underwear, or having a fetish for male underwear, I don't think labels are all that important, so I see where OP is coming from... "Labels aren't relevant so why bring them up" is a valid point.

If the issue of gay/straight seems to crop up a lot, perhaps that is because mainstream Western culture puts very strict limits on what a "true straight man" may find titillating. I.e. straight men have to live in a very small "box" of acceptable desires/pleasures/turn-ons. Straight men don't have cultural permission to deviate from that super-strict "script" of acceptable interests and activities. I think fetishes of all kinds are still viewed as a bit "suspect" in many people's eyes. I don't necessarily agree with these opinions.

I think there is something autoerotic about enjoying underwear, which means men who like underwear are probably just a tiny bit turned on by their own bodies. And it's not such a stretch to imagine being turned on by another male body (in or out of underwear) if one is turned on by one's own body (in or out of underwear). But fetishes are strange things and people are very complicated... Everyone's an individual. Not every guy who loves underwear wants to play around with a guy in real life. 😉

Like I said, it's an intriguing topic. Maybe the real issue isn't orientation at all? Maybe the real issue is gender norms or men's understanding of their own MASCULINITY? I.e. to what extent can a guy enjoy and explore all things erotic (such as underwear and other fetishes) while still falling within society's very narrow definition of acceptable masculine behaviour? Let's be honest: society doesn't give straight men all that much wiggle room. Hence, the very strong association of fetishes with non-straight men. 😎
This is a thoughtful opinion/post and I appreciate the perspective that our room to explore is limited culturally as men. We gather here and share our photos and stories perhaps in an attempt to normalize what we internally feel is not acceptable.
I find it intriguing to consider that gay men feel less culturally bound to male stereotypes and therefore their acceptance of sexy underwear is less encumbered. This feels reasonable and our congregation seems to reflect this statistical truth. I still feel like we are all better of not labeling ourselves or others and seeking to meet without prejudice.

Very well put, it's part of why I am drawn to this forum, I mean I'm straight, married but have always had a thing for exciting underwear although it's probably part of the buzz that it would be considered outside the norm for a straight man to wear something as daring.
I've recently been following Christian Ocean on YouTube and he's been doing a great job getting his buddies to get their thong on at the beach and it actually doesn't seem to draw much negative attention at all.
I suppose slowly and surely it is getting more acceptable but there will always be those that will ridicule but that's more an expression of their own inadequacies.
