Uploading Photos and Posting Content

Help Files and instructions on posting photos and content to Underwear Swimwear Guys

What Photos Can I Post?

This is a website for underwear, swimwear and related styles of garments so we expect photos and discussions to be on topic.

However, we do allow adult content, nudity, full-frontal and explicit photos as long as there's underwear, swimwear or gear in the photo. That's what this site is all about.

The only time you can post photos without underwear, swimwear or gear is in your private albums and you MUST mark them as private or select a list of members who can see your album.

There are countless sites to post photo of you naked but a true dedicated underwear site is rare. Let's keep it that way.

The only other exception to nude photos rules is in the General Chat Forum (down at the very bottom of the Forum list) where you can talk about and post practically everything.

Posting Rules in Galleries Versus Forums

Forums (Underwear Swimwear Gear Styles) versus Galleries

The purpose of the galleries and style forums have changed in the new USG which I think is going to enhance the experience (once everyone gets used to the concepts).

Here's a description and purpose of each:

Forums:

The Styles area of the forums are for general discussions about each style topic. Like the galleries, you can post photos of yourself OR you upload photos, embed photos or embed videos that may not be of yourself. (For example, if you have some hot photos of some wrestlers you'd like to share and get guys talking about them, you can post them in the Wrestling Singlet Forum.) Found some celebrities in the undies, an interesting new brand? Then post about them in the Styles section of the Forums.

Unlike the Gallery section which is all about posting photos of yourself, this area is more geared toward discussing what you've posted whether it be photos of yourself or things you've found in your travels.

This area is for discussions and posting photos of yourself or photos you found elsewhere

Galleries:

Unlike the old USG, the new Galleries have been broken down into categories of underwear, swimwear and gear. There's also an area for Photo Challenges if you're up for it.

The Categories section is strictly for posting photos of yourself (aka selfies) or photos you have taken.
The Personal albums can be whatever you want but the photos must be of yourself or photos you've taken. Just be aware, these show up on your Profile.

You can either post individual photos under each category or you can also post a Personal Album of photos. Personal Albums won't show up under any category but will appear in the Gallery homepage and will also be listed under the Albums tab of your profile page - unless you mark your album as private (read below).

Posting Photos to the Gallery:

Simply click the orange Add Media button and choose an appropriate style or challenge category to post your photo(s). You can choose more than one photo to upload at a time.

Posting Personal Albums:

To post an album, click the Gallery menu then click the orange Add Media button. Scroll all the way down past the categories to find the Create Personal Album link or if you already have some albums click the Add Media to Existing Album link to add photos to an existing album.

When you post an album of photos, you have the option of choosing who gets to see it. The options are:
  • Album Owner Only: This basically means the album is private and only you can view it.
  • Registered Members: This means anyone registered and logged into to USG can view your album.
  • Everyone: This means everyone can view your album (including visitors or guest to USG).
  • Specific Members: You can make the album only viewable to specific USG members. To add a list of members, simply start typing out their username and the website give you a list of members to choose from.
If you set the permission to Album Owner Only, only you will be able to view the album.

Gallery Category Photos versus Personal Albums

The Gallery is accessible from the main navigation menu. On a desktop or tablet, it's the horizontal menu it at the top of the page (just below the header photos and Underwear Swimwear Guys logo). From a mobile phone, use the main drop down menu from the upper left and choose the Gallery option.

Here's an explanation of Gallery Photos and Personal Albums.

Gallery Photos are simply photos you post that appear in the main Gallery page under the Jockstrap Styles Categories or the Photo Challenges Categories. These photos are public (unless you mess with your privacy settings in the preferences page).

Personal Albums are exactly that - they're personal albums you create. You can set these to completely private, viewable only to registered members, viewable to everyone (including guests) and viewable only to a list of members you choose.

All Gallery Photos will appear on the main Gallery page. Photos in your Personal Albums will appear in the main Gallery Page, depending on the privacy setting you choose for the Personal Album you create.

Under your Profile Gallery tab, you and other members can see ALL your photos, both those posted to the Gallery Categories as well as those in your Personal Albums (again, as long as you didn't set them to be totally private). Under your Profile Albums tab, only your Personal Albums will appear here.

How to Upload Photos

Uploading a photo or a bunch of photos to the Gallery is easy. You can either upload a photo or a bunch of photos to one of the Gallery Categories or upload them to a Personal Album. The method is the same for both.

How to Create and Add Photos to a Personal Album

Personal Albums are your own albums of photos you create. They don't go under the Gallery Jockstrap Styles or Photos Challenges but will appear under the Albums tab of your Profile Page.

* The Albums tab won't appear on your Profile Page until you've uploaded your first album.

Unlike the Gallery Underwear Styles and Photo Challenges, these photos don't have to contain underwear/swimwear but keep in mind that this is an underwear/swimwear site so keep non-underwear photos to a minimum. Their main purpose is to enhance your Profile Page.

Keep in mind, Personal Album photos WILL appear on the main Gallery Page as long as you haven't marked the privacy setting of your Personal Album to "Album Owner Only" or "Specific members". For more on the privacy setting, please read this.

To Create a Personal Album and add photos to it, head to the Gallery Page and click the orange Add Media button. Then scroll ALL the way down to the bottom and choose the Create Personal Album option. (see Diagram #1 below)

Next, give the album a title and description and choose your Privacy Setting.

Now, click the Upload File button to choose a bunch of photos from your device to place in your album. (see Diagram #2 below)

Once you choose the photos, each one will be listed in the window. Add titles, descriptions and tags to each photos. Then click the Save button and you're done.

*Tags are simply words that describe each photo. To enter a tag, type a word followed by the comma key. Each photo has to have a minimum of three tags. For example, for a photo of a black Bike jockstrap you would enter: black,Bike, jockstrap, (note the comma at the end is important as it adds the final keyword.

To Add to a Personal Album that's already been created, the easiest way is to go to your Profile Page, click the Albums tab, Click on the album you want to add photos to then click the orange Add Media button to follow the instructions to add new photos to that album.

Personal Albums can be Public or Private

Photos you post in the Gallery Categories are viewable by everyone (unless you've changed your privacy settings in your profile preferences).

You can also post Personal Albums and make them public or set them to various levels of private. Here's the privacy settings for Personal Albums and a description of what they mean.

  1. Album owner only: These means it's private and only you (and the two administrators of this website) can view it. Photos you post to it will show up in the main gallery page, but only you (and the administrators) will see them. You can also view your albums from your profile page.
  2. Registered Members: This means all registered members (who are logged in) can view your album. Photos you post to your album will be viewable on the main Gallery page (but only by registered members.)
  3. Everyone: This means everyone can view your album, including guests to the website. Photos you post to your album will show up in the main Gallery Page and will be viewable by everyone, including guests to the website.
  4. Specific Members: You can provide a list of other members who can view your album. Simply start typing a members name and suggested member's username will appear to choose from. You can add as many as you'd like and you can edit the album afterwards to add more members to the list. Photos posted to your album will appear in the main Gallery Page, but only to members in your list.
Keep in mind, the only place we allow photos of you without underwear (i.e. fully naked) is in your Personal Albums and they have to be marked "Album Owner Only" or you can choose a list of Specific Members. If you choose Registered Members or Everyone, moderators will mark your album private (Album Owner Only) for you. This is an underwear site and we have to try to keep it on topic.

Tagging Photos and Posts

Tagging the photos, albums and forum posts is mandatory. In most cases, you have to add 3 tags at the very minimum. Tags are simply words that describe the photo.

The search system here at the new USG is very powerful and tagging items helps the search engine locate your photos and forum posts when other members are looking for things. Also, it helps USG get listed on Google.

The easiest way to add tags is to simply enter a word then hit the comma key. The comma enters the word as a tag. You have to add at least three but the more tags, the better.

For example, If I post a photo of me bulging in a classic white Bike Jockstrap I could add the tags:

Bike, Jockstrap, Classic, Sports, Jock, White, Selfie, Bulge, Sportswear, Vintage

If you are posting a bunch of photos of you in the same jockstrap then instead of tagging each one individually, simply type out your tag word separated by commas into a text editor, a post or message window here on this site or anywhere you can type some text. Be sure to end the string of words with a comma. Then copy the string of words and paste it into the tag box of each photo. For example, If I'm posting a photo of me in a Vintage white Flarico jockstrap, I'd type the string:

Flarico,white,vintage,sportsjock,

Then I'd copy the string and paste it and the tags will automatically be entered.
