My Exhibitionist Holiday

I recently had a holiday in the Canary Islands. Inspired mainly by @brocker36, I decided to make it an exhibitionist holiday, by wearing what I thought were the most daring thongs I could get away with on various crowded beaches. (A couple were too brief or see-thru, so for those I kept to a quieter part of the beach, but always making sure I was in public view.)

To begin with I was quite apprehensive, being outside my comfort zone, but it was also a bit of a turn-on doing something very different.

I was slightly disappointed that while I could see several heads turning, no one actually came up to me to make a comment - either positive or negative, I think the biggest reaction was one mature lady giving me a disapproving look and saying something to her husband. What also surprised me was that while I spent most of each day on the beach, I never saw another man wearing a thong. A couple were wearing Speedos, but the vast majority were in board shorts.

I have been to Gran Canaria a few times, I usually go to the nude beach where you can go nude of course but seen lots of thongs and minimal swimwear there. Great pictures. I would have come over and said hi and chatted skimpy gear for hours.

I was actually in Fuerteventura. I know there are some clothing-optional beaches there, but the ones I went to were mainly quite conservative.

Indeed, most people worry way too much about what others think. Wear what you enjoy (and is legal enough). If you're just sunning, it's very rare for people to approach. In my experience by far the best way to get comments is to be up and about. Walk along the water, go for a swim, pick up some trash, etc. Occasionally if someone seems not to be occupied I might approach them and compliment them on something (important -- comment on something they definitely have control over. Tan, suit color, hair coloring, sunglasses, etc.). Another option is to ask someone to take a photo of you. Pay attention to their body language and how they respond before engaging further. Worst case is you end quickly with a "enjoy your time at the beach" and go back to your spot.

You're more likely to find skimpy swimwear in the south of the island, away from the Brits (as much as the beach around Coralejo looks nice, the actual place seems like the Blackpool of Spain).

Costa Calma, Jandia or some of the smaller beaches (like Mal Nombre) would probably provide more company of the similarly-dressed.
