For my early years, it was the Sears Catalog (underwear department, of course). Then late in my teens, I discovered the International Male catalog and I was in heaven.

I'm not sure what it was like in England but over here, most of the catalogs and advertising removed any hint of bulge or definition of genitalia.

I don't think we were too prudish in the UK. I remember one underwear catalogue called "International Male" from London where all the gear and models were illustrated rather than photographed so bulges and the models' physique were under the artists control. The artist had a fine sense of what I liked since I wanked many a time over those catalogues. I've tried finding pics of them on the web but no luck. They also had no problem showing the back view of jockstraps, G-strings and thongs

Not a high definition ad I'm afraid but definitely high definition memories. When Skants came out in the UK not only were they coloured (rather than the white only option for mens underwear) but they were so skimpy with the wasitband going to almost nothing at the sides. They sat low on the hips and and to me, a young teenager at the time, were totally boner making. I'd found a local menswear shop that sold them (actually had them on display in the window) and was desperate to overcome my shyness to go and buy a pair.

I eventually overcame my shyness and went in and bought my first pair of skimpy briefs made in 100% Bri-nylon and coloured deep red. I was totally turned on by the style, the colour and the smooth, figure hugging material they were made off. I bicycled home as fast as I could and went straight upstairs to try them on. I have to say that it's a good job they were stretchy - even so I had a boner struggling to be contained even before I got them out of the packet. They were my go to wanking underwear for a long time to come - probably until my first thong which is a story elsewhere in the forums.

So strong is my memory of Skants' impact on me that when I was in Melbourne VIC a few years ago I saw them in the Myer department store in the CBD and couldn't resist buying a three pack. This time they were 100% cotton and called Jockettes but were exactly the same style and I had to hide my boner on the tram back to my apartment.
